The purpose of the present work is to suggest and offer ideas to aid the researcher in the task of recording, analysing, and interpreting the fact of traditional dance. Once clarified, the concept of "folkdance" will be sketched within a number of theoretic-methodological frameworks and concepts that will be helpful in shedding light on the meanings found in it. We propose a protocol or taxonomic model of its components, designed both for recording the data through systematic observation, as well as for its subsequent analysis. Finally, we reflect on the double orientation that is generally associated with these types of dances, depending on their receptor, humans or divinities, and on how to make the context relevant in the symbolic analysis of folkloric dances. The aim is to understand it as a generator and reactivator of their very socio-cultural dynamics.
