Cuenta una anécdota que le pasó con la Guardia Civil cuando volvía con unos amigos de las fiestas de Echavacoiz. Había toque de queda y la Guardia Civil estaba inquieta por los maquis. Los encarcelaron y él, gracias a un guardia amigo de su padre se pudo escapar, pero a los demás les dieron una paliza.
