Four decades ago, the historic center of the city of Quito was declared by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, due to the good state of preservation of its urban and monumental architecture. However, very little has been done during this time to maintain intangible heritage -a category that has gained strength in recent years- and has been left to the knowledge of experts and little transmission has been made of its concept and importance to the protagonists of oral history. reserving the intangible heritage of a city, recovering family histories, is what the "Narra Quito" project intends, contemplating the use of new technologies and different communication formats to reach users of different ages and interests. In this article, we explain how this social project that aims to take the family as a whole of the city works and analyzes the approach of identity appropriation that has been proposed, by which the project is based on the conviction that within of individual families -those common and ordinary- are all the features that make up a city. The reasons why a transmedia universe has been used for documentary registration and for the public to participate in the different platforms are evaluated.
