This theoretical article aimed to investigate capoeira and its potentialities in the school space, as a pedagogical, playful, and important tool for formation: socio, historical and cultural of students in elementary school II. The research is of bibliographical and documentary character with qualitative approach, based on Severino and Gil. As a data collection instrument, the State of the Art was carried out, through the mapping of 2 dissertations, 1 thesis, 2 official documents, 6 books, 1 monograph and 4 articles were surveyed in databases such as: Academic Google, Scielo, Universidade Federal do Ceara repository, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Universidade de Campinas, Iphan portal and plateau, published between 2010 and 2018. It discusses questions about the emergence of capoeira as a response of blacks enslaved to the system of slavery, the 10639/ 03 that establishes the inclusion of Afro-Brazilian society, directly benefiting capoeira because it allows its exemption in the school space because of its importance as: intangible cultural heritage of humanity (UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), understood the corporeality of capoeira as an important instrument for the corporal consciousness of the student, besides the ludic and collective approach that is capable of transmitting knowledge.
